Coupons, Swagbucks, and Meatballs, OH MY!

Couponing = 50% off groceries!
I know I am not nearly as talented as those hard core couponers out there, but give me time.  In the meantime, I am totally enjoying that every grocery trip since I made my book has been literally HALF PRICE!!!  I love it!  I'd say "can't beat that" but I know that it can be beat.  I can't wait!

Swagbucks = $15 in Amazon giftcards ALREADY!
Yes, that's right I've cashed in on $15 of free amazon.com gift cards from Swagbucks already.  Sweet, right?  I've been using the search engine plus checking out their twitter, blog, and facebook pages for Swag Codes that give me extra Swagbucks here and there.  Come on and check it out!  Use my referral in the posy below.

Venison + Meatballs = Yum!
I've never made meatballs before.  I've never cooked venison before.  In fact, I pretty much can't stand cooking/handling/touching all meat.  I was a vegetarian for many years as a result.  Then one day, I craved a hot dog and so I ate a hot dog.  So then I became a vegetarian who ate hot dogs.  They aren't real meat anyway, right?  Well last week I made venison meatballs and they were, get this, not only edible but pretty darn yummy!  I used this easy peasy recipe except I didnt have any dry onion soup mix so I just used dehydrated onion flakes and some garlic, cause well, everything is better with garlic.  And Weight Watchers - they are about a point a piece when you make them about an inch around.  Sweet!

Swagbucks

So, I'm pretty new to this but I figured I'd post about it anyway... I have friends really into this whole 'swagbucks' thing and they are seriously cashing in!  I was not to be left behind.  I joined up and I'm plugging along collecting swagbucks.  You can collect your own AND help me out by signing up under my name!

Anyway, you use it as a search engine and can install a search tool bar and you are randomly awarded 'swagbucks'.  In return those can be used in the swagbucks store for a variety of things including amazon.com gift cards!   It seems pretty simple, and I have friends that are intending to pay for all of Christmas this way.  A pretty big goal, yes, but totally doable at the rate they are earning their swagbucks.  You can also earn more by signing up for the newsletter and following the blog and such.  As I learn more, I'll share with ya along the way!

Happy Swagging :)

A *that* mom moment...

On Sunday, I had a totally that mom moment.  I was that mom who everyone turned to look at as I shuffled into church with my two small children and all of their accoutrements after the sermon had already started.  Oh, but it gets better.  I'm the pastor's wife... and, wait for it.... I live next door to church.  Totally that mom.  Sigh.

Mmm... mmm... good.

Pretty, aren't they?  Well I thought so.  I'm not the best in the kitchen... especially when it comes to meat.  I hate to touch it, I don't know how to cook it, and hell, I didn't eat it for 7 years of my life!  So when I cooked these and they came out of the oven looking so pretty, I had to take a picture.  The recipe was ridiculously easy but I'm going to still pat myself on the back for tasting as delicious as they look.  (We were out of honey so I substituted molasses and corn syrup - 'cause my hubby told me to... maple syrup would have worked as well he tells me.)

Couponing

g, I never thought I'd be so excited by coupons, but after months and months of seeing the joy of others as they clip, organize, and save, I gave in. So here is my current pride and joy. My brand new, made and customized by me, coupon organizer. Hooray!

I found an old planner I used in college that I used to adore but haven't had any need for (let's here it for repurposing!) and decided to use that. It was perfect in that it zippers closed, it has a pocket on the outside and pockets on the inside.

I decided to use coupon organizer pages I found online from Mrs. A's Coupon Organizer. While it may seem silly to spend the money I really liked it. Of course they only came 3 hole punched, so it took me a little time and a lot of muscle with an ancient single hole puncher to add the 4 other holes neccesary for the 7-ring binder.

Then I bought pretty scrapbooking paper, cut it to size, and placed it in sheet protectors. I printed out 'labels' for each section from a digital scrapbooking label I found online. With some cutting and gluing, here we were.

In the pocket on the left are extra sheet protectors and extra coupon organizer pages. I'm keeping gift cards in the little business card pocket at the bottom. Eventually I will add tabs to the pages with something like this which I actually have sitting in that pocket on the left as well. I didn't apply them yet cause I want to live with it for a while and see what dividers I change and re-order before adding tabs.

Now it's just time to get couponing. I've found some sources to start with... manufacturer's websites as well as sites like coupons.com. Plus, there are a billion and one blogs about couponing. I'm also learning to become a "CVSer" (yes, there is such a thing). So, I'm sure there will be posts to come about the places I found the most deals, money I've saved, and at some point, I'm sure there will be a confession to pointless things bought simply because I had a coupon... but we're hoping to keep that to a minimum.

Breakfast of Champions

lossSomehow, I do not think that cookies for breakfast is one of the steps to becoming a lesser person, quite literally. That is to say, I'm not jump starting my weight loss this morning. Damn. But they go so good with coffee.
